History
In 1950, Roger Druine designed the D3 « Turbulent » single-seater for amateur construction. It flew in September 1950 and about 80 machines were built in France with different engines: Volkswagen, but also Porsche, Sarolea. With capacities between 30 and 45 hp. 30 machines were built under license in England.
R Barbaro designed this small racer using elements from Turbulent n°118 F-PIHU. The idea was to build an aircraft as small and as thin as possible around the engine to achieve maximum performance. Mr Gagnant realized the machine by spending some 1,347 hours of work with the support of the workshop Léo Chagnés, famous Toulouse manufacturer who also realized the first flights of this aircraft.
The BG 10-01 made its first flight on July 8, 1972 and showed the accuracy of the formula with a speed that went from 120 to 160 km/h. The BG 10 was equipped successively with a VW 1200 engine, then a Rectimo 4AR 1200 of 40 HP, then, in the early 1990s, a VW 1600.
